The Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Scheme in Bihar is a special initiative for meritorious students from economically weaker sections. Under this scheme, selected students are exempted from paying the tuition fee component of their course, making higher technical education more accessible.
1. Eligibility Criteria
- Annual Family Income: Total annual family income from all sources must be below ₹8 Lakhs.
- Domicile: Only bonafide residents of Bihar are eligible.
- Merit-Based: Seats are allotted based on rank in UGEAC (Engineering) or DCECE/BCECE examinations.
- Reservation: Up to 5% additional supernumerary seats per course are reserved specifically under the TFW quota.
2. Application Process
- Registration Phase: While filling out the BCECEB online application form, you must select "YES" for the TFW category option. Note: If you miss this during registration, you cannot claim TFW status later during counseling.
- Document Preparation: Prepare a valid, digital Income Certificate issued by the Circle Officer (CO), SDO, or District Magistrate. Ensure it is valid for the current financial year.
- Choice Filling: During the online counseling, TFW seats will appear as distinct options (often labeled as 'T' or 'TFW'). You should prioritize these in your preference list.
- Reporting & Verification: If a TFW seat is allotted, you must present the original income certificate during physical document verification at the allotted institute.
Expert Advice: TFW seats are supernumerary (extra seats). Once you are allotted a TFW seat, it cannot be converted into a general seat. Ensure you have your income certificate ready before the counseling process starts to avoid any last-minute rejection.
